Twos Program

Children ages two-three

At The Saint Thomas Episcopal Preschool we understand how important the first few years of education are in a child’s life. At this critical stage it is vital for children to begin to understand loose structure, and how to socialize with their peers and teachers. We’ve designed a great program that helps children learn how to interact with one another in a positive way through fun activities and guided tasks.

The Twos program at STEP is designed to prepare your child for the next stage in their education. Your child will learn to interact with their peers, and communicate their wants and needs with both their peers and teachers. By integrating teaching/learning into play and fun activities children learn the skills they need in a way that feels natural to them. Our two year old students learn new skills in language, fine motor development, and social interaction.

In our classrooms children have access to sensory play, building materials, a library, art, and music. Sometimes we have water play, and children get involved in our Christmas program, Thanksgiving Feast, and our Fourth of July Parade.

Children joining our Twos Program do not need to be potty trained. Our teachers work together with parents to provide potty training using a method that has worked at STEP for years.

Our curriculum is rooted in the Episcopal faith and we are inclusive and accepting of everyone. We want your child to feel at home in our classrooms, and our families to have access to the support they need in guiding their children through their most critical stages of early childhood education.

By the end of the school year your child will have accomplished many milestones. They will be potty trained, develop more social skills, and gain a fair amount of independence. They’ll be prepared for a more structured day with planned activities.

Miss Clara

I have ten years experience in the childcare profession, and a working knowledge of childcare organizational structure. Helping children and their families is the most rewarding job. My favorite part of the day is being able to interact with the children.
