Children ages three-four
At Saint Thomas Episcopal Preschool, we love to nurture and guide our young preschoolers through meaningful experiences to help them learn and grow. Our Threes program gives our young students the opportunity to blossom and thrive.
Through play and hands-on activities, your child will engage in group learning activities that will expand their knowledge into letter recognition, shape and color identification, and early writing skills. The STEP Threes program offers a variety of enriching classroom activities including a light table for discovery, sensory bins for exploration, and musical instruments to play with music and sound. Our activities are fun and interactive, and allow the children to explore science and STEM concepts like sink-or-float and green food tasting.
The children in our three’s program are also developing their social skills and cooperative play. We provide an environment where they can practice their problem solving skills with the support of our experienced staff. They learn the power of their voice and how to express themselves in a way that sees positive outcomes. We’ll guide them towards confidence in their own abilities with daily tasks and self care skills.
Inside our classroom: The day starts with free choice play and then progresses into outside time to let the children explore movement and practice those important gross motor skills. When children come inside, it’s time for snack and circle time. During circle time the students will go over the calendar, weather, and activity based on the theme. After circle time we move into small group activities. Children will rotate through the classroom participating in activities and games based on the theme, as well as that day’s art project and/or writing activity. Then it is time to go back outside to run and play, followed by lunch. After lunch is nap and relaxation time. When the children wake up it is free choice play, snack time, and then time to go outside.
By the end of the Threes program at STEP, your child will have had a full year of practicing their writing skills and pre-math skills. They will have been exposed to a number of fun books to promote literacy. They will have conducted multiple experiments to explore float or sink, color changing, and causing reactions. Most importantly, they will have a solid and nurturing foundation to help them be happy, fulfilled little learners.
I have ten years experience in the childcare profession, and a working knowledge of childcare organizational structure. Helping children and their families is the most rewarding job. My favorite part of the day is being able to interact with the children.
