On-site Supported Distance Learning Program
Children ages five-twelve
At STEP, we offer on-site care for school-aged children ages 5-12 to help facilitate your school’s virtual learning curriculum. This means your child can attend their school virtually at our center, with our team of educators to help them succeed.
To keep your child safe, we provide advanced health and safety measures. This includes temperature checks, limited classroom access, regular cleaning and sanitizing. You’ll have the peace of mind knowing your child is safe, learning and having fun in a healthy, supportive environment. Your child will receive help with assignments and technical support getting into their meetings with their teachers.
In addition to having a safe place to learn and socialize, your child will also have access to our classroom library, as well as manipulatives and puzzles for quiet play.
Inside our Distance Learning Program: Students will arrive and set up their individual table and get out the supplies needed for the day. They are online from 9am-12:15pm and then they have lunch. Our kindergartners are done with their virtual learning at 1pm and will play and participate in small group activities that support that day’s lesson. First graders and older return to their online classes from 1pm-3:20pm. We offer the opportunity for children to play outside between virtual classroom sessions based on their schedule.
Laura Wood has 38 years of teaching experience. She sees the children not only as students, but as an extension of her family. She teaches children to learn to be the best they can while learning new tasks. She loves the children’s smiles and hugs, and finding time to laugh and be silly with them.
I have over 20 years of experience in early childhood education. Every day is an adventure working with young children, you never know what the day will bring. I try my best to make learning fun and exciting. Seeing a child grow and develop into their own is what inspires me to keep teaching. I believe parent-teacher communication is the key to helping a child grow and be successful in school. I enjoy reading fun stories and singing songs with the class each day.
I’ve been working in the classroom since 2005. I have experience as a head teacher and as a classroom aid for children with special needs. I enjoy being a part of a child’s learning journey and witnessing their growth and achievements. I love engaging with students during sensory play, or being a part of circle time. Sensory play is so much fun because I get to see the thought process of my students, and be a part of their discoveries. Circle time is another favorite because I get to engage in conversations with my students and learn from their perspectives.
